LAB names Acadian VP Keith Simon 2010 Associate Member of the Year

    May 25, 2010

The Louisiana Association of Broadcasters recognized Keith Simon as the recipient of its 2010 Associate Member of the Year Award.  The award recognizes Simon's leadership in news, marketing, public service, and commitment to our community.

The Associate Member of the Year Award is presented annually to an individual representing a company that is an Associate Member of LAB and has provided significant contributions and service to the association.

Simon, a 38-year veteran of Acadian Companies, holds the position of vice president of public relations and marketing. He started with Acadian Ambulance as a military medic a year after its inception in 1972.

Simon has made it a personal mission to lend his services to a number of public service programs by partnering with media outlets and broadcasters throughout the state to get important messages across to residents of Louisiana.  He has been instrumental in writing, voicing, producing and distributing public service announcements in conjunction with many LAB member stations in anti-drunk driving campaigns, highway safety programs and public health efforts such as the Heartstarter Community CPR program.

"Keith's persistence, loyalty and personality helped build extraordinary relationships with the broadcasters across our state," said Acadian Chairman and CEO Richard Zuschlag. "I'm very proud that the broadcasters took time to give him the recognition for his great work in helping create the success story of Acadian Ambulance and for his remarkable ability to help raise money for charitable organizations throughout our area."

Simon's charitable contributions to Acadiana are ongoing. Just to name a few, he is a member of the Evangeline Area Boy Scouts of American Council Executive board member since 1993 and currently serves as the Council VP of Marketing and Treasurer of the Catholic Committee on Scouting. Simon has served as scoutmaster, charter organization representative for the Acadian Ambulance Explorer Post 108, and council commissioner. Now known as Opus Christi Magnum, Simon has been a volunteer of the Bishop's Charity Ball since 1987 and served as treasurer for years.  He has served as the education chairman, religious education teacher, and coordinator for Altar Servers for the St. Bernard Catholic Church, in Breaux Bridge, where he is currently an usher.

The awards were presented at the LAB Annual Prestige Awards banquet luncheon held Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at the Hilton Hotel in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Simon lives in Breaux Bridge with his wife, Camille, where they are lifelong residents. They are the proud parents of adult sons Bryan, Jeremy and Jeffery and grandparents of Grayson and Hayden Simon.
